Controls of lifting installations
With D.P.R. 30/04/1999, adopting Directive 95/16/EC on lifts, a new technical-administrative procedure has been
established for the installation and commissioning of the plants in permanent service in buildings and fabrication
of the safety components used therein. Specifically, the owner of the facility is required to subject installed lifts
to periodic verifications every two years. Asacert, as a notified independent body, provides for the verification
of such installations, thanks to its technical experts, engineers with many years of experience in the specific
field of testing and inspections of lifts and elevators, specific education and training. The controls are carried out,
therefore, with the guarantee of full compliance with the technical protocols envisioned by current relative
legislation.
In case the periodical verification is negative, the installation must be subjected to an extraordinary verification.
Also, in the case of incidents of notable importance, the owner or whoever for the owner gives notice of what happened
to the municipality that has the authority to shut down the installation. When restarting the service, a special
verification is required by the control organ.
Whether for the periodic verifications or for those extraordinary, the owner must provide the means and the loads and
the assistance (maintenance people) essential for the execution of the periodic verifications of the installation.
As provided for by Article 13, Paragraph 6 and Article 14, Paragraph 4 of Regional Presidential Decree No. 162/1999,
the cost of performing the regular and extraordinary verifications are paid by the owner of the building where the
installation is located.
